AMCO’S Technological Choice for the Management of Non-Performing Loans

Stefano Micheli, COO of AMCO, Discusses Choosing RAD Informatica’s EPC Solution for Managing NPEs and UTPs

AMCO

The customer

AMCO is one of the main operators in the management of non-performing loans, well-established as a leader in the management of UTPs. Over the past 20 years, AMCO has built  a successful track record and strong governance. The company is actually a financial institution monitored by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, subject to regulatory oversight by the Bank of Italy and financial control by the Court of Auditors. In 2020, AMCO’S NPE portfolio grew to €34 billion, with a particular focus on UTPs.

The Needs

The purchase of the RAD Informatica EPC solution took place in 2018 with the aim of managing the non-performing loans of Banco di Napoli, Banca Popolare di Vicenza, and Veneto Banca on a single platform. The portfolios were managed on different IT systems, and there was a need for an information aggregator that would allow for effective and efficient management of the loans on a single platform.

There was also a need for a single reference system for all the stakeholders involved in the management of the cases, guiding them through judicial and extrajudicial workflows to improve the quality of data entry and the management of daily operations.

Finally, AMCO wanted to improve the management of onboarding new NPE portfolios with the aim of maximizing their recovery.

The Choice

The project was implemented in two phases. In the first phase, the core functionalities of the EPC software were installed, starting with judicial workflows and extending to the activities needed for portfolio management. Judicial procedures in progress were assessed by reconstructing historical data from external legal entities.

The second phase involved the integration of the former Banco di Napoli’s portfolio. By connecting to the Cedacri core banking system, information from the previous management system was acquired, and a new functionality for managing of the UTP portfolio was developed. Additional features, such as automatic posting for collections, electronic invoicing, and interfaces with essential info providers were also implemented to improve informed management decision-making.

Finally, the EPC management onboarding model enabled AMCO to acquire and manage new portfolios within the platform, setting a new industry standard in terms of speed and efficiency.
